Highly recommend full day tour of Qatar
NasreenQ6, 24-09-2022
We had a great day trip with Shahzeb! We saw many sites around Doha throughout the day! Shahzeb communicated very clearly from the day prior to confirm timing and the plan. He was very flexible with our preferences. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. Shahzeb was quite knowledgeable pointing out facts and buildings around to give us context. We were able to stop frequently to take photos! Highly recommend this trip for a full day excursion taking in the sites!
Amazing 5-Star Tour with Shahzeb

Shahzeb is a highly experienced tour operator. We discussed the day’s two tours - Combo City Tour and the Desert Safari - at the beginning of the day. He listened to what i wished to see/experience from the tours, and adjusted the programs accordingly,

The Desert Safari was very exciting. I was amazing by Shahzeb’s driving over and around the dunes. I always felt safe, even when descending very step dunes.

Shahzeb recommended that I visit the National Museum of Qatar. I followed his advice and was amazed at the collection.

If you are going to be visiting Qatar, do yourself a big favor and book a tour with Shahzeb. You won’t be disappointed.
Tour of Qatar

Shahzeb was our tour guide. I appreciated how flexible he was. We did the sand dune tour the day with camel riding and sand sledding the before so we asked if we could do a tour of north qatar instead and he was accommodating. The museum of qatar was beautiful with an extra exhibit with Pipilotti Rist.

Shahzeb was an excellent tour guide giving us a full historical experience of Doha. We definitely enjoyed our day with him. I will recommend doing it again
Fantastic combo tour of desert and city

Shahzeb was a great tour guide. Did a fantastic combo tour of both the desert and the city. Thoroughly enjoyable with a variety of things to do! Would recommend this tour!

The best part of this trip? I can’t even tell you. It was probably Shaji Siddiqi, my guide. He was hilarious, fun, insightful, curious, and up for anything! Make sure you let your guide know what is most important to you for your day (you don’t have to tell them exactly where to go, just what type of experiences and information you want to engage.). Shaji made sure we hit the local market, had some gooood coffee to start the day, ate local Chapatis, and met up with his tour guide friends so I could get a taste of how they had fun together in this business.

This was one of the best days of my life. I just came off two weeks in Ghana and had a 15 hour layover in Doha before heading to Cape Town (weirdest route ever, I know). I decided to do the full day combo and it was totally worth it. I know a lot of people do just the desert, but you really get a sense of Doha if you see the city too. The National Museum was a really treasure. They’ve meticulously curated a new exhibit on three nomadic tribes of the larger region and did so with truth about colonial practices, how Hollywood stigmatizes people from the region, and has a tremendous number of artifacts. Make sure to check out the big markets, they’re great to see and experience. There are so many things that I can’t find in America that were there.

The desert tour was just ridiculously good. Shaji was ready to take me for all my money when I told him not to hold back on the sand dune driving. Wow! We were whipping and skidding around like in the movies! It was so much fun. He was a great driver and I felt safe, though I probably looked like the scarcest kid on a rollercoaster :) I told him I wanted to dine surf and he found me a board. Tons of different tours were at the dunes and most people opted not to do it when they saw the size of the dune, but I went ahead and surfed it. Pro tip: tell your guide you want to practice on a small one first. I was the only one that did that, and it made me more comfortable. When it came time to go down the big hill, I was one of only two people to do it even though there were nearly 30 people there.

Shaji got me back to the airport on time for my flight. We talked about Muslim-Christian difference and how his life as a Brown man and mine as a Black man were different and similar. It was just what I wanted: to really connect with a local. I don’t shy away from asking about what I hear about Qatar (the poverty and human rights abuses) and Shaji was open to discussing. That made this trip even better
to have an open and curious guide was perfect for a wanderlust sociologist like me :) I thought we wouldn’t have enough time to do everything, and we didn’t, but we did so much that I was full with happiness and laughter.
Doha is so much more than we imagined

The desert dune drive was exciting and beautiful. Our driver was excellent.

The City Tour was very fascinating. Ali is a great guide. He is charming and very knowledgeable about the culture and the history of Qatar and Doha.

We definitely recommend this Tour.
Blast in the desert
Marc_H, 31-12-2022
We took the combined city and desert safari tour in Doha Qatar with our guide Asim. He communicated with us clearly both before and during the tour. He was flexible on the tour start time which was helpful given our short stay in Doha. The eight hour tour started with the desert safari which took us to the south of Qatar. We took a short camel ride (small extra cost) that proved to be a blast for our entire group. Asim then drove us up and down numerous sand dunes on our way to the inland sea with fun music blasting as we navigated each dune. That was a lot of fun as well. The inland sea, where the desert abruptly comes up against the water, was very serene and beautiful. For the second half of the day we headed back to Doha. Normally, Asim would have shown us a number of the most important sights around Doha (Souk, Katana Village, Pearl Island, etc.), but as we had seen those sights recently before we opted to spend about an hour+ each at both the National Museum and the Islamic Art museum. Asim dropped us off then was there ready to continue the tour when we were done at each museum (which are both beautiful and amazing!). By now we had about reached the end of our time with Asim so we had him drop us off near a lunch place at the large Souk area in Doha. We then did some shopping (including at nearby gold souk) then headed back to our hotel easily by taxi. Asim was a great guide and we appreciate his flexibility in modifying the normal tour. We would heartily recommend taking this tour and seeking out Asim to be your guide when visiting Doha.
Very unique and unforgettable experience

Doha is a very interesting place and having a driver to take you places is a really good idea. A few points to keep in mind - communicate with your driver early regarding your expectations, places for lunch, timetable, stops you want to take, etc. Have your driver check the working hours of the museums you are driven to, fasten your seatbelts during the safari part, and have cash in hand for camel rides (it's up to 100 QAR).
Half great, half disappointing.

We enjoyed the desert portion very much. Our guide did not know that we booked the city and desert trip and when we were done at the desert he said he was driving us back to the hotel. I reminded him that we had the city and desert tour booked and he was surprised. We drove past the museum and did not stop as he said we would only have half an hour there, I thought it was an hour. So we told him half an hour was not enough. It was raining that day so we did not go to the cultural village. We went to the Pearl but were there for maximum half an hour and then he drove us to the market place and left us there as he said that half an hour is all the time we could spend there. He said that the market place was great for shopping so we told him to leave us there and we would take a taxi back to the hotel. All the stores we closed, we could not shop so we left with a taxi and went back to the hotel. It was disappointing as we really did not get what we paid for. We really only got a half day desert tour and not the city as paid for.
